Gas costs up as India cuts subsidies
India has unveiled some ambitious spending plans in its annual budget, and one thing that will help the government fund those promises is the continuing low price of oil. India buys in about 80% of the crude it needs.
And even though the low price of oil also means that subsidies it gives on fuel - including petrol and cooking gas - are costing it less, the government feels that even more can be done.
