Helping struggling schools is priority, says Gove

The Education Secretary, Michael Gove, has told head teachers that he is listening to their concerns - including their worries over changes to the way schools are inspected.

He was speaking at the annual conference of the National Association of Head Teachers in Harrogate.

The NAHT's new president, Steve Iredale, has accused governments of political meddling, which he claimed was playing ''Russian roulette'' with children's lives.

In a speech to delegates, Mr Gove insisted that helping struggling schools was a priority.
