School place shortage 'set to worsen in England'

Almost half of England's school districts will have more primary pupils than places within two years, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said

Some local areas will face a 20% shortfall in places by 2015, according to analysis of official data from 2012.

Local authorities say not enough new schools are being built and the worst-hit areas could face a shortfall of 20%.

The LGA says the crisis has been caused by a baby boom, rising immigration and families being priced out of the private sector.
