Alan Milburn: 'An ever-greater divide in our country'

Alan Milburn, chairman of the Social Mobility Commission, said people's chances of "getting on" depended on where they started out.

Citing the commission's State of the Nation report, he said London was "steaming ahead", while rural and coastal areas and former industrial areas were being "left behind economically".

He told BBC News that lack of social mobility could lead to an "ever-greater divide in our country".
