Miliband pledges 20,000 more nurses in the NHS

Ed Miliband has pledged that his government would provide more training places for nurses, to help reach a target of 20,000 new nurses in the NHS.

He has said he would write to colleges and universities on his first day in Downing Street, leading to up to 1,000 new places.

His government would, according to the Labour leader, get money flowing into NHS "straight away".
