Rhodri Morgan wants 'X-factor' replacement for 'Hampstead geek'

Former first minister Rhodri Morgan has admitted Labour will not be be able to find "Albert Einstein and Jesus Christ and Boadicea all rolled into one" as the party's next leader.

He said while he knew the top person would not be perfect, they must have "some X-factor" and a future election campaign must be played to their strengths.

He said the recent general election saw Ed Miliband's "Hampstead geek" lose to Cameron's "Eton posh boy who has forgotten the price of milk".

The former First Minister Rhodri Morgan also warned the Labour Party in Wales must learn lessons from the party's poor election performance in Scotland.

"If you don't establish a Welsh brand, you could suffer the fate of the Labour Party in Scotland," he said.
