US election 2016: Life on the US-Mexico border

Immigration and US border security have been among the most contentious issues in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Donald Trump’s comments about Mexicans as "rapists" and his plan to build a concrete wall all along the border catapulted him to success in the primary race, though the proposal is less popular among the general electorate.

Still, iron fences and walls already exist in some spots on the border.

The BBC’s Brajesh Upadhyay talked to some of those whose live lives are interrupted by the wall.
