Banned Russian book to get UK opera premiere

A new opera called A Dog's Heart based on a book that was banned in Russia for more than half a century will have its UK premiere on Saturday.

It is a co-production between the English National Opera and the Netherlands Opera.

The production features puppetry, film and some gruesome action; all of which are the dramatic creations of Simon McBurney, the acclaimed theatre director, who is trying opera for the first time.

Will Gompertz reports.
