Elizabeth Taylor laid to rest in private ceremony

The funeral of Elizabeth Taylor has taken place just outside Los Angeles.

The actress was laid to rest during a small, private ceremony at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, one day after she died of congestive heart failure.

Her funeral started later than its scheduled time of 2pm at her request because she 'wanted to be late for her own funeral'.

The BBC's Rajesh Mirchandani said the funeral took place so soon after her death in line with her religion.
