Cellist's passion compared to Du Pre
A new recording of Elgar's cello concerto has received wide praise.
Alisa Weilerstein, a young American cellist, recorded the work with the Berlin Staatskapelle and its conductor Daniel Barenboim, whose connection with the work is profound.
Mr Barenboim was married to Jacqueline du Pre, whose 1960s recording of the concerto is still renowned and cherished. Weilerstein's passion is now being compared to du Pre's.
The Today Programme presenter James Naughtie spoke to Alisa about the recording.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday 16 February 2013.
