Steven Soderbergh on why he is quitting the movies

Despite the success at the Cannes film festival of his latest work Behind the Candelabra, Oscar-winning film maker Steven Soderbergh has said that he is turning his back on cinema.

Among his best known works are Hollywood hits Erin Brockovich, Traffic, and the remake of Ocean's Eleven, as well as Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Magic Mike and Che.

He spoke to BBC Newsnight's Stephen Smith about why he had made the decision and what might be next.
