Gerald Barry's opera The Importance of Being Earnest is staged for the first time in the UK

Irish composer Gerald Barry's opera The Importance of Being Earnest is being staged for the first time in the UK.

Director Ramin Gray brings this inventive and well loved Oscar Wilde classic to the Linbury Studio Theatre.

Barry's score encompasses many genres of music, from avant-garde to baroque. This fast-paced production includes 40 plates being smashed rhythmically as characters Gwendolen and Cecily have a battle of wits performed through megaphones.
