'How do you spot an IED?'

An exhibition about Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and the challenge they pose to British troops in Afghanistan opens at the National Army Museum in London this week.

The curators are calling it an "immersive" exhibition - allowing visitors to listen to the sounds experienced by troops, walk down a simulated street to spot home-made bombs, and hear how IEDs have affected soldiers' lives.

The Today programme's reporter Tom Bateman went to see it.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 17 July 2013.
