Sooty celebrates his 65th birthday today

Sooty is celebrating his 65th birthday today.

The yellow bear was 'discovered' in 1948 by Harry Corbett, who bought the hand puppet to entertain his children whilst on holiday in Blackpool.

After being discovered on a talent show, Sooty has had a prolific TV career, and along with pals Sweep and Soo is showing no signs of retiring with a new series in the offing.

Sooty ducked out of his birthday party preparations to join pal Richard Cadell on the BBC Breakfast sofa.
