New version of Barnum is staged in Chichester
A new version of circus musical Barnum has opened Chichester Festival Theatre's summer season.
The show is staged - appropriately - in a giant 1,400-seat tent next door to the Sussex theatre, while the main site is redeveloped.
Rising Broadway star Christopher Fitzgerald plays PT Barnum, the legendary US showman.
It is the first major UK production since its original West End run in 1981, starring Michael Crawford.
Barnum was revived at Chichester after artistic director Jonathan Church suggested to producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh that it would be an ideal fit for the new tented auditorium.
Sir Cameron told BBC News arts correspondent Tim Masters how he reworked the show for a 21st century audience.
