Black cinema renaissance in US
Fruitvale Station, a film based on real life events surrounding the death of a young black man who was shot by white police officers in California, is released in America today (26th July).
The movie has been getting a lot of attention as it bears some resemblance to the high profile shooting in Florida of teenager Trayvon Martin.
It is also just one of a new wave of black films arriving in American cinemas, with 10 movies slated for release by the end of the summer, a significant increase on the same time last year.
Tom Brook reports on 2013's black cinema renaissance.
