Pavarotti's first recording to be released by widow

The first ever recording of opera singer Luciano Pavarotti is to be released.

It lay unheard in his personal archives for five decades. But his widow found it after his death.

Music journalist Petroc Trelawny says the singer had been out riding his horse, when he was drafted in to cover another performer, on Live at the Palladium.

He said the performer's voice had not changed since; the range of roles he performed wasn't large, "but what you got from it was just this absolute beauty and engrossing timbre of sound".
