Gromit statue auction raises £2.3m for Bristol hospital

An auction of dozens of decorated models of animation character Gromit the dog has raised more than £2m for Bristol Children's Hospital.

The 81 statues of Wallace's companion were on display on the streets of Bristol during the summer.

Art fans from around the world watched the sale online - after people had queued for up to eight hours to see an exhibition of the statues last month.

The Oscar-winning creator of Wallace and Gromit, Nick Park, was stunned by the amount of money raised.
