Sam Smith wins Sound of 2014
Singer Sam Smith has come top of this year's BBC Sound of 2014 new music poll, which aims to showcase the rising stars to watch in the year ahead.
The list was compiled using tips from more than 170 music critics, DJs and bloggers.
The 21-year-old's vocals have featured on two recent top 20 singles - Naughty Boy's La La La and Latch by Disclosure - but he was still working in a bar until 2012.
Smith has also been releasing a series of solo songs online - showcasing his extraordinary voice which also bagged him the Brits Critics' Choice award for 2013.
BBC News caught up with him at Look Mum No Hands cafe in London's Old Street - a place he used to spend a lot of time between studio sessions.
