When Newsnight's Jeremy Paxman grilled Michael Howard

Jeremy Paxman has announced he is quitting BBC Two's Newsnight programme after 25 years at the helm.

The BBC said Paxman made the decision last summer, but agreed to stay until June.

Paxman was known for his confrontational interview style.

Among his most famous grillings was that of Michael Howard in 1997.

Paxman questioned him relentlessly about a meeting Mr Howard had had with prisons chief Derek Lewis about the possible dismissal of the head of Parkhurst Prison.
