Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker has defended the series from criticism over its factual accuracy.

The ITV drama's first series was a huge success with audiences and critics, but some have raised questions over the accuracy of court scenes and other details in the second series.

Whittaker told BBC Breakfast that certain artistic licence had been taken to "make a pace exciting to an audience".
