German singer turns down Eurovision Song Contest place

The contest to decide the German entry to the Eurovision Song Contest ended in drama, as the winner handed his title to the runner-up.

Andreas Kummert - whose song Heart of Stone was selected by a public vote - turned down the opportunity to represent his country in Vienna.

Germany's official Eurovision entry is now a song called Black Smoke, performed by 24-year-old runner-up Ann Sophie.
