Exhibition reveals ancient connection between Egypt and Greece

The story of how two lost cities of ancient Egypt were rediscovered is being told in a major new exhibition at the British Museum in London.

The lost cities of Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus lay at the mouth of the River Nile, hidden under the sea for more than 1,000 years.

Their discovery is transforming historians' understanding of the deep connections between the ancient civilisations of Egypt and Greece, as BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz explains.
