Andrew Lansley defends flu advert campaign timing

The Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has rejected claims that the government has performed a U-turn over a flu advertising campaign.

Mr Lansley said that the new year was the appropriate time to raise awareness of flu, and was a separate issue from the decision not to run an advert promoting vaccinations.

He said that the "Catch it, Bin it, Kill it" hygiene campaign would run from January 1, as people returned to work, school and other public places.
