Gavi: Jemima Khan on why vaccines are important

International pledges amounting to more than £2bn are expected to be announced on Monday, by the health partnership Global Alliance for Vaccination and Immunisation (Gavi).

The money will be used to target measles, diarrhoea and tetanus some of the biggest killers of children under the age of five.

Jemima Khan, who campaigns for Unicef, said vaccines had wiped out polio in all but four countries worldwide and there was now an opportunity to eradicate other diseases.
