Stafford Hospital scandal prompts NHS reform plan

Radical new measures are being promised by the government to ensure there is no repeat of the NHS scandal in Mid Staffordshire.

A public inquiry accused the health service of putting corporate self-interest ahead of patients at Stafford Hospital.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has responded by announcing a rating system for hospital and care homes, and a requirement for student nurses to have front line care experience before they embark on their degrees.

Dominic Hughes reports.
