Former Stafford Hospital nurse says 'vigilance' is needed
The training of nurses is to be changed following a scandal at Stafford Hospital where neglect contributed to the deaths of hundreds of patients.
Ministers are proposing that trainee nurses spend time working as health care assistants on hospital wards before completing their degree training.
Helene Donnelly, a former nurse at Stafford Hospital, said she welcomed the move, but that vigilance should play a part throughout a nurse's career.
