UK organ donation 'rises by 50%'

The number of people in the UK donating their organs after death has increased by 50% in the past five years, figures suggest.

The rise is thought to be because of a network of specialist nurses who approach and support bereaved relatives in hospitals.

NHS Blood and Transplant says it is an outstanding achievement but that many patients are still dying while waiting for an organ.

Fergus Walsh reports.
