Leeds heart mortality figures within threshold

Figures on mortality rates at different children's heart hospitals have been released by NHS England, following a difficult period for Leeds General Infirmary.

Speaking the Today presenter Evan Davis, Sir Brian Jarman, who runs the Dr Foster unit at Imperial College which independently compiles data on hospital performance, explained that children's heart operations at Leeds General Infirmary were "safe and within the threshold that would otherwise trigger an alert if mortality figures had gone high".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday 13 April 2013.
