NHS reforms: Jeremy Hunt wants return to 'family doctoring'

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been addressing delegates at the annual NHS Confederation conference.

In his speech, he said that he would like to see a return to "family doctoring" where GPs in the community are kept fully informed about what is happening at any one time with their most vulnerable patients.

He also thanked doctors and managers for their work, particularly in reference to "handover" periods, when shifts change over in hospitals. Doctors and nurses take "enormous trouble" to ensure that those are done properly, he said.
