Hospitals try to improve kidney care

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) has published new guidelines recommending that the NHS in England should carry out more routine kidney tests on hospital patients regardless of whether their admission is kidney related.

Nice say it could save thousands of lives a year as many patients who are seriously ill also have renal problems.
