Overhaul of hospital care urged

Hospitals need a radical overhaul of how they cope with the growing number of very elderly patients, according to a new report.

The Future Hospital Commission, set up by the Royal College of Physicians, says it wants an end to patients being moved around between wards, and much more flexible working from hospital doctors.

It says change must happen to ensure patients are treated compassionately despite increasing demands on medical staff.
