Should sugar be regulated like dangerous drugs?
A senior Dutch health official has called for tighter regulation of the sale and consumption of sugar, warning that it is the "most dangerous drug of the times".
Paul van der Velpen, who heads up the city's public health service, wants a sugar tax to be introduced, as well as tobacco-style warnings on soft drinks. So is tighter regulation the way forward?
Dr. Richard Johnson is a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado and has researched the effect of sugar on the human body.
He told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night: "The greatest problem is with drinks with sugar - because you get a large dose very rapidly... so labelling on soft drinks would be good."
