Lives at risk by ignoring mini-stroke symptoms

There is a warning that thousands of people are putting their lives at risk by dismissing the symptoms of mini-strokes as just "a funny turn".

The Stroke Association says one in 12 affected patients will go on to have a major stroke within a week, and it says early treatment could prevent 3,000 deaths a year.

A TIA (transient ischaemic attack) or mini-stroke causes similar symptoms to a stroke, such as speech problems, but may last only a few minutes.
