WHO: 'Unanimous agreement' on untested Ebola drugs

Untested drugs can be used to treat patients infected with the Ebola virus, the World Health Organization has said.

At a meeting in Switzerland, it was decided that such a move was ethical in light of the scale of the outbreak and high number of deaths in west Africa in recent weeks.

Dr Marie-Paule Kieny from the WHO said that there has been "unanimous agreement" among experts to allow the use of the drugs, as long as certain caveats were met.
