QCQ: GP surgeries to be rated

Failing GP practices will face closure under plans being unveiled in England.

The Care Quality Commission confirmed the sanction as they announced that the special measures regime that is already used for hospitals will be extended to GPs.

Prof Steve Field, the CQC's chief inspector of GPs, told BBC Breakfast that surgeries would be rated under the new system so "all patients will know how good their practice is in a variety of areas".
