NHS 'could save £27m' with new alcohol detox centres
The NHS could save £27m a year by changing the way it treats severely alcoholic patients, according to new research seen by the BBC.
One in three A&E admissions are alcohol-related, but it is thought thousands of future hospital trips could be prevented by sending some of those people to specialist detox centres instead.
Jim Reed has been given exclusive access to the first such unit in the UK.
