'We had to beg for mental health help'

One in five children will experience a mental health problem at least once in their first 11 years.

A report from the National Association of Head Teachers this week suggests two-thirds of primary schools are ill equipped to deal with these problems.

Liz’s daughter Sorcha started suffering from mental health issues when she was at school but found there was no help available to her. She ended up leaving school after becoming very depressed.

Liz and Sorcha are now helping to raise awareness of children’s mental health issues with the charity Young Minds.
