A Palestinian prayer song for St George

Several Palestinian men sing and translate some verses of a traditional Saint George prayer.

St George, the patron saint of England, is a local hero to many in Palestine.

The saint is revered as an early Christian martyr in the region, who opposed the persecution of his fellow Christians in the Holy Land.

The men in this clip, all relatives of the Talgieh family in al-Khadr, are each called George. "Oh, St George we pray at al-Khadr," go the lyrics. "We are the Christians with the candles in our hands."
