What do Americans think of affirmative action?

This week the US Supreme Court upheld a voter-approved ban on racial preferences in admissions for Michigan's public universities.

The decision was just the latest development in the long and controversial history of affirmative action.

However, it turns out that a majority of Americans approve of this practice - though opinions do fall along racial and partisan lines.
