Dian Fossey: The woman who lived with gorillas

In December 1985 US gorilla expert Dian Fossey was murdered at her mountain top research centre in Rwanda.

Fossey established the remote Karisoke research centre in Rwanda in 1967 at a time when some feared the mountain gorillas could become extinct.

Kelly Stewart worked with Fossey during part of her ground breaking study of the primates.

She spoke to Witness about her memories of Dian and working in Rwanda.

Witness is a World Service programme of the stories of our times told by the people who were there.
