Nascar death: Kyle Petty recalls the day his son died

Nascar is one of the most popular sports in the US and the Pettys are one of its best-known families.

In May 2000, 19-year-old Adam Petty was killed when his throttle got stuck and his car slammed into the outer wall of a track.

Born into a racing dynasty, his father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all racing drivers before him.

Kyle Petty told Witness about the day his son died and how the accident changed the sport.

Witness is a World Service programme of the stories of our times told by the people who were there.
