Glasses to help the blind 'see' at summer science show

Lightweight glasses to help the blind "see" objects and people in front of them and so navigate busy city streets, are being developed by researchers at the University of Oxford and will be just one of the exhibits on display at this year's Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition.

The interactive science show also features a new 360-degree film which allows visitors to immerse themselves in the secret world of plankton, and gives the public a chance to try their hand at keyhole surgery or learn the secrets of invisibility cloaks.

The annual celebration of the UK's cutting-edge science, engineering and technology runs until Sunday 10 July at the Royal Society's headquarters in London.
