Cheers from Tim Peake's former primary school

British astronaut Tim Peake has successfully blasted off with two other crew members from Baikonur in Kazakhstan, bound for the International Space Station.

Back on Earth there was great excitement at Major Peake's home village of Westbourne, near Chichester.

Pupils at his former primary school watched along with family and friends as the rocket launched into space.
