The moment a 'baby dragon' hatched

The first of the so-called "baby dragons" has arrived.

These eggs were laid four months ago by a strange salamander in a Slovenian cave - and on 30 May, the first one hatched.

Ghostly pale and totally sightless, the olm - also called the proteus - can live to 100 and only reproduces every 5-10 years.

This clutch of eggs appeared in an aquarium in Postojna Cave, a tourist destination where the creatures have lived for millennia.
