Nerdcore artists rap and sing about topics generally deemed to be unfashionable or nerdy, such as science, mathematics, comic books and computer programming.

The underground artform allows musicians to celebrate their bookish tendencies as well as comment on aspects of social awkwardness and being shy.

One of Nerdcore's leading lights, MC Frontalot, explained what inspires him and gave BBC News a taste of his geeky lyrical stylings.
