Google audit after breaking UK data protection law
Google is guilty of a "significant breach" of the Data Protection Act according to the UK's Information Commissioner.
Christopher Graham said Google broke the law when cars collecting information for its Street-View service retained personal data including emails, web addresses and even passwords from unsecured wi-fi networks.
Google has apologised and said the information was gathered by mistake.
Christopher Graham, told the BBC that Google's actions amounted to a breach of the law and that the company's British operations would now be subjected to a full audit.
Mr Graham said it was important to work with the company to prevent further breaches.
