Webscape: Augmented reality app brings drawings to life

This year, an estimated $670million (£410m) will be invested into developing augmented reality applications. It is serious business so what better use to put this cutting edge tech to than entertaining our children? Colarapp, external turns the colouring book on its head with a collection of printable drawings that can be coloured in and when viewed through the app they will spring into life.

Another great range of digital toys comes from Tocaboca, external. There is an impressive collection - ranging from Toca Builder to Toca Doctor and most recently Toca Hair Salon Me. What is especially nice given the target demographic is they are all open-ended, non-competitive, and non-violent.

When preparing a presentation there really is no excuse to bore your audience with a plain deck of slides. eMaze, external lets you spice up your visuals, building presentations using a range of pre-made templates for a professional-looking finish.

Internet telephony company, Viber, launched Viber Out, external this week - allowing low-cost calls to any mobile or landline from within its apps. Rates will vary from country-to-country and whether you call a mobile or landline. The feature is now available through Android, iOS and the desktop apps, with Windows Phone access coming soon.

There are over a billion profiles now featured on Facebook. That is a huge number of faces, as ably demonstrated by the Faces Of Facebook, external, which places them all on a single web-page for you to explore.
