Destiny - Activision's $500m gamble

Destiny is one of the most eagerly-anticipated video games in history.

Created by the same studio behind Halo, Destiny has cost more than $500m (£310m) to develop and promote.

Publisher Activision is hoping that Destiny emulates the same success as some of its other titles, such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.

But it is a big gamble - the investment into a completely new gaming franchise is unprecedented, as the BBC's technology reporter Dave Lee reports.
