Xiaomi: 'Others copy our best ideas'

It has been a quick rise to prominence for Xiaomi, the Chinese technology company founded in 2010.

The firm has already risen to become the world's third largest smartphone company worth an estimated $45bn (£30bn).

On Thursday Xiaomi caused great excitement in Beijing when it unveiled a slew of new products.

They including a new range of "MiNote" phones that the company boasts are thinner, lighter and significantly cheaper than those offered by Apple.

Many compare Xiaomi to Apple and critics have argued Xiaomi is profiting by copying Apple's designs.

The BBC's Celia Hatton met Xiaomi's vice president of global operations, Hugo Barra.

She asked him to explain more about the company that many outside China have never heard of.
